The archaeological site is located in the right margin of the Chicama valley, near the coastal district of Magdalena de Cao. This site comprises adobe pyramids known as El Brujo Complex, more than 4, years old. This place has been occupied from the Archaic at Huaca Prieta 2, BC with a continuous occupation until the arrival of the Spaniards where they built a church made by the Dominican monks, and also with a large population during the the era known as Cao.
During the Moche AD occupation, the complex had fulfilled the most important progressive role as ceremonial center for the most important deities, and also dedicated to urban activities for the elite in this valley. The northern flank corresponds to the main front, which has been subject to a large number of plundering of an important Lambayeque cemetery.
The most impressive friezes depict human scale sized polychrome reliefs, in which is shown staged nude characters tied by the neck with a rope, known as "prisoners" those moving from west to east; behind them several warriors are standing still carrying their weapons.
